Industrial office entrance and facade redesign at 1200 Denison Street, Markham by Quadrant Architects

This project involved the redesign of the office entrance and front façade of an existing industrial building at 1200 Denison Street in Markham. The warehouse and production areas are located at the rear of the site, while the office faces the street and serves as the main public entry point.

The client, Shunda Polyurethane Ltd., wanted an entrance that clearly identified the office, improved street presence, and reflected the industrial nature of the business without disrupting daily operations.

The project was designed by Quadrant Architects Inc.

• Building type: Factory with front-facing office
• Location: 1200 Denison Street, Markham

Design Goals

Our Approach

The design focused on the portion of the building that faces the street. The entrance was redesigned to stand out clearly from the rest of the façade, making it obvious where visitors and staff should enter.

The front façade was upgraded using a simple, industrial design language that fits the building’s use and surroundings. Changes were targeted and practical, allowing the client to improve visibility and appearance without affecting warehouse operations or internal workflows.

Materials and detailing were selected for durability and low maintenance, recognizing the demands of an active industrial environment.

Results

• A clearly defined office entrance for an industrial facility
• Improved street visibility and first impression
• Minimal disruption to warehouse and office operations
• A cost-efficient upgrade aligned with the client’s business needs
