Dog Grooming Studio Design in Downtown Toronto – 16 Blue Jays Way

Dog grooming studio interior design at 16 Blue Jays Way by Quadrant Architects

Designing a dog grooming studio in downtown Toronto comes with unique challenges, especially when the space is located beneath residential condominium units. At 16 Blue Jays Way, Quadrant Architects was commissioned to design a modern, cozy, and pet‑friendly grooming studio while meeting strict soundproofing requirements set by the building management.

Soundproofing in a mixed-use building

Because the commercial unit is located below residential suites, acoustic performance was a major design priority. Dog grooming facilities naturally generate noise from dryers, clippers, and animal movement, so careful planning was essential. Our design focused on enhanced wall and ceiling assemblies, strategic zoning of louder grooming areas, and thoughtful spatial planning to minimize sound transfer to the residential units above. These measures ensured the business could operate comfortably without impacting condo residents.

Creating a warm, welcoming environment

Beyond technical requirements, the client wanted a space that felt warm, welcoming, and clean—far from a cold or clinical environment. We achieved this through a balanced interior design palette using natural wood finishes to introduce warmth and comfort, paired with marble stone surfaces for durability and hygiene. This combination created a refined yet practical environment that supports daily grooming operations while remaining visually inviting.

Layout and workflow

The layout was carefully planned to support smooth circulation, clear sightlines, and an efficient grooming workflow. Lighting and material choices were selected to reduce stress for pets and create a calm atmosphere for both animals and their owners.

This project reflects Quadrant Architects’ experience in designing commercial interiors within mixed‑use and condominium buildings across Toronto. By integrating soundproofing strategies with thoughtful interior design, we delivered a grooming studio that meets building requirements, supports the client’s business, and prioritizes pet comfort.
