Pet‑Friendly Interior Design with Soundproofing in a Toronto Condo Building

Dog Grooming Studio Design | 16 Blue Jays Way, Toronto

Commercial interior design for a pet-focused business in a downtown condominium building

Dog grooming studio interior at 16 Blue Jays Way in downtown Toronto by Quadrant Architects

As pet-focused businesses continue to grow in urban centres, many are locating within mixed-use and condominium buildings. The dog grooming studio designed by Quadrant Architects at 16 Blue Jays Way in downtown Toronto is a clear example of how architectural design can balance business needs, building regulations, and user comfort.

One of the main challenges of this project was sound control due to residential units located above the commercial space. Building management required careful consideration of acoustic separation to protect residents from operational noise.

From the early design stages, sound-conscious planning was built into the layout. Louder grooming functions were positioned away from shared wall and ceiling assemblies, and enhanced construction strategies were used to reduce noise transmission between the commercial unit and the residential suites above.

Warm, Pet-Friendly Interior Design

At the same time, the client wanted a grooming environment that felt warm, cozy, and welcoming for pets. The interior design approach focused on natural materials and clean detailing.

Wood finishes were used to soften the space and create a calming atmosphere. Marble stone surfaces were selected for durability, hygiene, and ease of maintenance while also adding a sense of quality. The result is an interior that feels professional without feeling clinical.

Efficient and Calm Layout

The interior layout was designed to promote cleanliness, efficient workflows, and smooth circulation throughout the studio. Clear sightlines and thoughtful zoning help reduce stress for animals while supporting staff operations and client movement.

These design decisions improve the daily experience for pets, staff, and owners alike.

This project highlights Quadrant Architects’ experience designing commercial interiors within residential condominium buildings across Toronto. By combining acoustic awareness with warm, pet-friendly interior design, the grooming studio fits seamlessly into its downtown context.
